Last Month's Setlist: 8/27/16, Oaks Theater, Oakmont, Pa.

'Bayou moonlight, got me wanderin'
Off Dauphine Street again...'

We found some awesome kindred spirits in Greensburg-based rock/funk band Habatat, who joined us for a double-bill at the beautiful Oaks Theater. Unfortunately, the crowd was kinda small, but we still had a great time.

Thursday's (Solo) Setlist: 8/11/16 CoCo Coffeehouse, Leechburg, Pa.

Counting Crows cover...? Check.

After playing with a full band for the past four years, I'm never really fully satisfied playing solo shows. I have fun, and it's a great opportunity to road-test new material and pull out some of the slower, more-emotional tunes that don't fit very well into the Charlie Hustle repertoire — and I do occasionally find something that makes me go, 'Huh, that was pretty cool' on the tapes — but for the most part, I just find myself wishing there was at least one other person there playing alongside me.

That said, this is probably the most varied solo show I've played in a while, which probably made it a little less coherent for the crowd, but whatchagonnado?

Last Night's (Solo) Setlist: The Great Hall, Morial Convention Center, New Orleans, La.

The Great Hall... and probably big enough
for Beowulf and all his rowdy boys... not a stretch.

Last night was easily the biggest venue I've ever played, a massive hall in the Morial Convention Center in New Orleans where the acoustics were so good I was able to fill it with just my Fender Acoustasonic amp. Being in the Big Easy, I put together a set that was heavy on N'awlins tunes, including a few I wrote.

Tonight's Setlist: 7/10/14, Railroad Park, Verona, Pa.

'That's it...'

We played a few new covers and two new originals tonight. Railroad Park always seems to bring a good, adventurous show out of us. A nice, breezy evening didn't hurt, either.

Tonight's Setlist: 5/29/14, Howler's, Pittsburgh, Pa.

'Goin' down south, gonna make the mornin' howl...'

Tonight we triple-billed with Jester Jenkins and Miss Freddye's Homecookin' Trio, and it was excellent... aside from some heinously out-of-tune slide guitar on what should have been the centerpiece of the evening, Miss Freddye joining us on "Lil' Red Rooster." Alas...

Tonight's Setlist: 2/2/13, Graham Jam, Dive Bar & Grille, Wexford, Pa.

"It's dark as a dungeon, way down in the mines..."

Had another blast at this year's Graham Jam. Sat in with the Grifters for their last two tunes, "It Takes a Lot to Laugh, It Takes a Train to Cry" (Dylan) and "Lil' Red Rooster" (C. Burnett) but didn't record 'em. Supposedly the entire Jam is being recorded this year, so if I get a link to that, I'll toss it up here. Plenty of good players were doin' their thang tonight.
